Carefree Desert Gardens

Situated on 4 acres, the Carefree Desert Gardens beckons couples and families to stroll and enjoy the beauty of the Sonoran Desert accented by a holiday light display. While on a self-guided walking tour, you’ll experience the lighting of the largest Sundial in the western hemisphere, a 26’ decorated Christmas tree, a new “rare” crested saguaro cactus  and many other botanical species adorned with holiday lights. This free exhibit is a must see both day and night!

Start feeling the magic of the holiday spirit with a performance from the world-renowned Phoenix Boys Choir. Then join us for a short candle light stroll through the Gardens up to the Carefree Iconic Sundial where the NEW Carefree 26’ Christmas tree will be lit with the help of APS. A party will follow at the Sanderson Lincoln Pavilion as Santa arrives offering holiday treats, dancing, music and more for the whole family!

The Town of Carefree is an official “stop” for Santa who is checking his list twice to see if you’ve been naughty or nice! NEW this year Santa has penciled in MORE days to hear about your gift lists and to capture family photos. He will also be making stops at the Carefree Snow Village and making a special appearance at Santa’s Workshop. Make sure you send a Christmas letter to Santa since he does answer all letters containing a return address and self-addressed envelope. Click Here to Check Santa’s Schedule

One of the shortest drives in the Valley to find REAL SNOW is at the Carefree Snow Village just east of the Iconic Sundial. For some children, it’s their first time touching natures wonder, learning how to form a snow ball or just building a snowman with friends and family.

*Carefree Snow Village includes Real Snow, 35’ High Alpine Slide, Human Snow Globe and Nutcracker Snow-Ball Throw plus Santa on these dates only.

Inspired by the Christkindlemarkets in Germany we’ll celebrate the European tradition with a local charm at the NEW open-air Carefree Christmas Market. Gingerbread, toffee, organic meats, hot drinks, hand-crafted ornaments, winter clothing, holiday wreaths, hot pretzels, fine artistry, wooden toys and more! 10th Annual Parade of Holiday Traditions

Saturday, December 9

10 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Reserve your spot along charming Easy Street in downtown Carefree this year for a spectacular Christmas parade! Presented by the Chamber of Commerce this will be the kick-off to an exciting festival weekend with the opening of the Snow Village, Santa, fireworks and more! Featuring 2017 Official Parade Announcers Chief Meteorologist CBS Channel 5, Paul Horton and 3TV’s Anchor/Reporter, Javier Soto!

Fireworks Extravaganza

Celebrate your independence in December! This year the Town will host an evening of country music from the Ryan Sims Band who has been featured on the “X Factor” starting at 5 p.m. and immediately following the RYAN SIMS BAND concert at 5 p.m., settle in with your chairs, blankets and reserve a space underneath the beautiful Sonoran sky of beautiful Carefree! (weather permitting)

Sanderson Lincoln Pavilion Entertainment

Carefree Desert Gardens, 101 Easy Street in Downtown

Signature performances include Ryan Sims Band providing a unique blend of rock-infused country, great for the entire family and the Town’s special salute to Veterans and First Responders with comedian “Jill Kimmel”. Local entertainment and dancers will also highlight the entire month from local bands, dance groups, Phoenix Ballet, Rock the District and Cave Creek Schools. Click here for more information.

Chanukah Celebration

Evenings of December 12 – 20

Each night of Chanukah, a 6 ft. Chanukah menorah will be lit at 5:30 PM in the Sanderson Lincoln Pavilion, located at 101 Easy Street in Carefree. The lighting will be led by a different community group or family each night, followed by special Chanukah gifts given to the first 25 children who arrive-a different gift each night!

The first night will be Tuesday, December 12 and continue every night until Tuesday, December 19. On .Sunday December 17th, the sixth night of Chanukah, the Rabbi from Temple Chai and the Temple Chai adult choir will be leading the prayers and singing Chanukah songs. If you are interested in lighting the candles and leading the prayers on one of the other evenings please contact the Town of Carefree at 480-488-3686.

While shopping at the new Carefree Christmas Market, you won’t be able to resist the smells of homemade sugar cookies, hand-crafted toffee, rice crispy treats, fudge, iced gingerbread, caramel apples, hot chocolate, coffee and all things sugary sweet. On the savory side, experience hand crafted pizza, bread bowls and homemade soups alongside our local butcher who will introduce organic meats and hot sandwiches sure to please those hungry after playing in the snow.
